Anniversary Gala Fundraiser

Join us for our 5th Anniversary Gala fundraiser!

Featuring a variety of entertainment showcasing the best of The Westdale, including a set of classic soul music by Suzie McNeil & Gary Beals, and comedy by Scott Faulconbridge. Hosted by Lohifa Pogoson Acker, this night of celebration will include a welcoming ceremony by Gail Obediah, and a live auction.

All funds raised will help support our community programming in 2024.

Doors open at 7 pm with the Hamilton All-Star Jazz Band performing to welcome you, with the main show kicking off at 8 pm.

Show your heart!  Come dressed with a heart accessory, jewellery, or clothing print.

Each ticket includes a complimentary glass of sparkling wine, unlimited popcorn, and a $50 donation tax receipt (emailed following the event).

Suzie McNeil HeadshotSuzie McNeil – Musician

Juno award nominee Suzie McNeil is a powerful vocalist and talented performer, who became a household name in 2005 when she was the last woman standing on the CBS reality show, Rockstar: INXS.  She landed a starring role in the Toronto debut of Queen’s “We Will Rock You” Musical, and has worked alongside top artists including Alan Frew, Jeff Healey, Dave Navarro, Scott Weiland, Gavin Rossdale, Clay Aitkin and Foreigner.  She had the exciting opportunity to sing back up for P!NK on her North American Tour and recently, Suzie made history by joining Aerosmith on their Las Vegas residency singing backup vocals with Steven Tyler.


Drawing inspiration from legends like Aretha Franklin and Al Green, Gary Beals embodies the essence of soul music. Rising from a small-town upbringing in Cherry Brook, Nova Scotia to becoming a finalist on the “Canadian Idol” TV series, he has transformed over two decades into a refined, driven artist with four successful albums under his belt.

Gary’s talent goes beyond his powerful vocals; he exudes confidence and joy, advocating for seizing life’s moments. His track record includes chart-topping projects, widespread critical acclaim, and an impressive array of awards, from Juno nominations to African Nova Scotia Music Awards. To top it all off, his home province of Nova Scotia officially dedicated November 22 as Gary Beals Day in honour of his remarkable contributions to music and his community. 

Scott-FaulconbridgeScott Faulconbrige – Comedian

Scott Faulconbridge has delighted International audiences with his masterful timing, quirky story telling and quick improvisational wit and established himself as one of Canada’s headlining acts. His unique stories and songs are inspired by family mishaps that have made him a crowd favourite across the globe.  He has toured theatres coast to coast in both The Just For Laughs Tour and The Investors Group National Tour and has  performed over a dozen times at The Internationally Acclaimed Just For Laughs Festival. Scott’s acting credits include acting in feature films such as Disney’s  Greatest Game Ever Played’ and ‘Abandon’ with Benjamin Bratt. In 2019 Scott appeared in Roger Avery’s Internationally released feature film ‘Lucky Day’  His latest album ‘Above an Abandoned Building’ was released this year and his new sketch show ‘Faulconbridge’s Falling Down’ is currently on Bell Five TV.

Lohifa Pogoson Acker - HostLohifa Pogoson Acker – Host

Lohifa Pogoson Acker is a Community Builder, Entrepreneur, Hair Artist and Business owner at LoDidThat – Hamilton’s one-of-a-kind Hair Studio offering unique styling experiences. A dynamic individual with a passion for community development, Lohifa believes that each person has beauty and brilliance that should be celebrated daily.

Prior to taking up hairstyling full time, Lohifa built a career in International Development working on Health System Strengthening projects with Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI), United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and Department for International Development (DFID). As a proactive change agent, relationship and community builder, Lohifa leverages community relations, emerging trends and best practices from her previous career in Healthcare and current role as a business owner to offer innovative solutions to communities and clients.  At LoDidThat, Lohifa’s mission is to foster a community that is looking good, living deliberately, loving life and encouraging others to do the same.

Gail Obediah ImageGail Obediah – Singer, Songwriter

Gail Obediah is Mohawk, Turtle Clan, and is now residing on Six Nations of the Grand River Territory. She also carries roots with Alderville First Nation, her Ojibway family. She was born and raised in Brantford.

Gail is a singer/songwriter, with a unique music mix, she calls “RezJazz”. Her songs blend acoustic jazz/blues/folk genres mingled amongst traditional/contemporary drum songs. Gail also sings with a traditional women’s group, Kontirennonoron, as well as working on, and performing her own music.
