Hamilton Originals with Junestone

Join Olivia and Borys from Junestone!

Junestone became a band in August 2018 after which lead of the group, Olivia would attend the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity as a musician in residence (Late Fall 2018). The band was created after Olivia wrote three songs earlier that spring and was inspired to put together a group.

Junestone sold out their first ticketed event at Artword Artbar in February 2019. They have recorded 11 songs with music videos since their first video release “Who Cares” in June of 2019.  The band members have attended various music programs in Ontario. Justin McHugh, Junestone’s drummer, is a graduate of Humber College’s music program while guitarist Borys Franiczek is a graduate of York University’s music program. Both Ian Aisling (keyboards) and Olivia Brown (bass and vocals) are graduates of Mohawk College’s Applied Music program.

Olivia is the primary songwriter for the group, but song arrangements are decided collectively and the band is beginning to write together more often. Musically, the group is inspired by funk, soul, and jazz artists in addition to their classic and alternative rock influences.

Junestone’s performance experience includes playing at events by the Toronto Undergraduate Jazz Festival (2020, 2021, 2022), Wintersong Music Festival (2022), Sew Hungry Ottawa Street Festival (2022), and the Markham Village Music Festival (2022). Olivia and Borys have also toured in Eastern Canada (spring 2022) performing original Junestone songs. They will be touring New Brunswick and Nova Scotia with more original music later this fall (2022).
