When an old friend takes his own life, Alan Zweig seeks out others grappling with the suicide of a loved one. As hard as it can be to speak of such an unfathomable loss, more than 20 friends and acquaintances feel compelled to tell their stories. Zweig engages with them as only he can—reflecting with disarming candour on the grief and resilience of those left standing. Love, Harold is a profound gesture of cinematic empathy from one of Canada’s most distinctive filmmakers.

Alan Zweig

Alan Zweig is a Toronto documentary filmmaker known for using film to explore his own life. His first film was the cult classic Vinyl, which was listed by Pitchfork as one of the best music documentaries ever made. Other films include Hurt, I, Curmudgeon, There Is a House Here and Fifteen Reasons to Live. His films have won the Platform and Best Canadian Feature Awards at TIFF, a Genie and a Canadian Screen Award.

Alysha Main

Alysha is a Music Supervisor, Event Manager, DJ, and Podcaster who has been working in the entertainment industry for 20 years. Her career has taken her to Toronto, London, and Melbourne, working in Artist Management, Event Promotion, Sales, and Marketing. She is the creator and host of the Hamilton Film podcast, documenting the local film industry, and the co-founder of Hamilton Ladies of Film & TV, a collective of female-identifying filmmakers. In 2017 she shifted her focus to Music Supervision, studying at Berklee College of Music, working on film and TV projects in Canada and the USA. In 2022, she joined the team at the historic Westdale Theatre.
