Part of our Noir-vember Film Talk Series!

Partner up with our guest speakers all November long as they take you through the classic world of film noir, cinema’s home to all things existential and hard-boiled, and three of the most impactful pictures this genre has to offer!

Dave Bannion is an upright cop on the trail of a vicious gang he suspects holds power over the police force. Bannion is tipped off after a colleague’s suicide and his fellow officers’ suspicious silence lead him to believe that they are on the gangsters’ payroll. When a bomb meant for him kills his wife instead, Bannion becomes a furious force of vengeance and justice, aided along the way by the gangster’s spurned moll Debby. As Bannion and Debby fall further and further into the syndicate’s insidious and brutal trap, they must use any means necessary (including murder) to get to the truth.

Paul Zoccolillo

Paul is the Cinema and Projection Coordinator for the Westdale Theatre, having served originally as a volunteer during its restoration, and was later employed with its re-opening in 2019. As an avid cinephile and amateur film historian, he takes a deep interest in the development of historical filmmaking in a wide variety of genres and styles, with crime cinema and film noir being closest to his heart. It is with this interest in mind that he takes the plunge this season to host his first ever Film Talk… the first of hopefully many more to come!
